The Accidental Blog

Because of escalating alienation in this lousy modern world and endless chatter without actual communication, blogging is on the rise. Some use it as a gateway to express themselves while others perceive it as a trendy habit. As a result, blog names have been snapped up like hot cakes and I had little viable altenatives apart from this one.

The good news is that after years and years of resistance, I've jumped on the blogging bandwagon. I've always kept a diary and I have to concede that using a computer monitor with cathode ray display would save me approximately 500 pages of paper per annum and quite a few trees. Taking the advent of global blogging into account, we're talking about an awful lot of trees here. We all do what we can. Look mom, I blog! (Please laugh now)

On a more serious note (Hey, I'm trying), this humble blog makes its debut riding on my desire to promote more contemplation on the meaning of life, effectiveness and current affairs. While entries will be generally pleasant, do forgive the occasional expletive that will not be censored. After all, this is not a children's book.

To wrap up the first post of my accidental blog, I will take a leaf out of Arundhati Roy's book by quoting a snippet that sums up her worldview of life. "To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance, To never get used to the unspeakable violence and vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch, To try and understand, To never look away. And never, never to forget."

Till next time, Cheerio.

Join the club, dude :) Save the trees! Then again, the amount of trees that cut down to build dams for generating electricity...hmm.
